A great many visitors to Tuscany, especially to the Chianti Classico area of Tuscany, take the opportunity to taste, drink and buy our wines, and to learn about wine-making, grape varieties and so on. An enjoyable and efficient way to do this is to stay at a winery. Working farms – in Chianti usually meaning a vineyard and/or olive oil producer – that offer accommodation to visiting tourists are known as agriturismi (singular: agriturismo). They offer comfortable and extremely economical vacation accommodations in the form of villas, farm houses, rural apartments and rooms, including B&B rooms. Almost without exception, you will be able to arrange a tour of the wine-making facilities and to taste the various wines produced on the property. Of course, you can also buy the wines!

Another good way to stock up on wines that you like is to visit the sales points of the properties that interest you and to try their wines. A number of them also ship overseas, both purchases you make on the spot and subsequent orders sent from abroad.

Pieve di San Cresci wine tasting near Greve and Panzano in Chianti

Pieve di San Cresci (formerly Podere San Cresci) is a winery belonging to the Ballini family that produces a range of excellent red and white wines, with emphasis on Chianti Classico including a Riserva and a Gran Selezione, and also a very good Rosato. Visitors to the area wishing to taste and/or buy the San Cresci wines can simply contact Sig. Ballini and arrange to visit the wine tasting room. A visit to the cellars is also possible. The location of the Podere is scenic and the winery buildings share walls with the historic, romanesque Pieve di San Cresci, the oldest parish church in the area.

Winery accommodation and saffron at Agriturismo Felciano at Panzano in Chianti, Tuscany

Agriturismo Felciano is located 500 m from the Busitalia (formerly SITA) bus stop and 1 km easy walk from central Panzano. Open and bottled wine, olive oil and saffron are available for purchase. Wine tastings available.

Winery accommodation at Agriturismo Il Santo – pool – air conditioning (near Greve and Panzano)

Azienda Agricola Il Santo vineyard, owned by the Turchi family, is situated in the Chianti Classico hills between Florence and Sienna, 1 km away from Greve in Chianti and slightly more from Panzano in Chianti.
