A great many visitors to Tuscany, especially to the Chianti Classico area of Tuscany, take the opportunity to taste, drink and buy our wines, and to learn about wine-making, grape varieties and so on. An enjoyable and efficient way to do this is to stay at a winery. Working farms – in Chianti usually meaning a vineyard and/or olive oil producer – that offer accommodation to visiting tourists are known as agriturismi (singular: agriturismo).
Vino al Vino is a wine tasting event that takes place in the main piazza of Panzano in Chianti every year during September, usually during the four days consisting of the third weekend of September and the preceding Thursday and Friday. This is usually one week after the much larger Chianti Classico Wine festival (Rassegna del Chianti Classico) that takes place in nearby Greve in Chianti.
The Villa Castagnoli and its Il Molino di Grace vineyard are located at Volano near Panzano in Chianti. They were purchased by Frank Grace in 1996 and the winery was managed by Gerhard Hirmer. In just a few years, the Molino di Grace Chianti Classico, the IGT Toscana Il Margone, a sangiovese-cabernet sauvignon “super Tuscan” blend, and the IGT Toscana Gratius, a 100% sangiovese wine made from the oldest vines on the estate.
